Thank you for your interest in the Northwest Iowa School of Taxidermy. At this time we are not taking any applications for our 2021 classes, as the winter class has been filled and we are not offering any other 2021 classes at this time. Please check our website later in the year for any possible 2022 classes that may be offered.

Sincerely,

Tom Matuska

Facilities

Training at The Northwest Iowa School of Taxidermy is conducted in conjunction with the Matuska Taxidermy Studio and the Matuska Taxidermy Supply Company. The taxidermy school is housed in a 7,600 square foot facility. This modern stone and wood structure is located on 12 acres along Hwy. 71 south of Spirit Lake, Iowa. The facility consists of an administrative office, a commercial taxidermy showroom, a spacious classroom, a large walk-in freezer, paint booth, lunch room, tannery, a separate woodworking and base making building, a pond and two live study pens, as well as the Matuska Taxidermy Supply Company.

Live animals, birds and fish are the most accurate means of references available to the taxidermist. Our study pens contain whitetail deer, turkeys and waterfowl. Students are able to study anatomy, up close and personal. Freshwater study aquariums are also found at our taxidermy school.
